Architecture Matters

In many ways, people love architecture because it represents who we want to be at any given time. Institutions need passionate people who are ready to bring architecture to the mat in terms of updating its face and the way it is practiced. To train a generation of diverse students who are ready to redefine civil servant and recreate its components to include varying populations, people who are willing to mix realism, inspiration, a high level of craftsmanship, and a student-centered approach are key parts of creating that change. I am excited and ready to be one of those people.

Stacy Scott received her Master’s Degree in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2016. Prior to enrolling in the Planning, Design, and Built Environment program, Stacy held various design positions in both healthcare and multifamily-focused architecture firms. It was during her time on the design team for a psychiatric hospital for young women dealing with disordered eating, that she realized her passion for researching the built environment’s impact on mental health. Stacy has worked in architecture, graphic design, and information design, and finds her research interests expressed most fully in the intersection of joyful design of the healthcare environment, social equity, and psychological health.
